i don't think that the romney side should think that it's going to be like that in the next debate. that was not what we wanted to project but look at the same time, you go back to the tape and break it down like ron jaworski did with the football game, romney had a lot of good stuff and points that he got across and i thought from a policy standpoint, i thought it was pretty rich. when people are complaining that boy they got too much into in the policy into deep in the woods, usually the complaint is there is not enough substance and there is too much style so i think, i think from that standpoint it was a pretty good debate for the american people to see a lot or go for one i think both of them clearly, mitt romney became fired up and ready to go as somebody might say and obama almost look like george h. w. bush checking his watch. >> i don't think we saw the same debate. i don't think it -- i don't think the precedence demeanor was especially whatever, checked out. he talked longer than mitt romney so clearly he was engage. >> no look, i think why the analysis of the debate is t

i think mitt romney was desperate. >> host: we will have the candidates debate foreign policy specifically in the coming weeks. do you reflect on the earlier part of what he was saying? >> guest: clearly more a common set of questions, but i think romney did make a trip to europe to israel. he went to london, where he criticized the olympics games. he went to poland. he went to israel. democrats have tried to emphasize what they see as romney's penchant for gas. clearly he's not entirely comfortable with the subject of foreign policy enhancing the time to be somewhat undiplomatic into international affairs. at the same time come udc is somewhat inconsistent critique as my colleague pointed out on the website yesterday when it comes to romney and what the democrats are saying about him. on the one hand, they called him of flip-flopping when it comes to his foreign policy. on the other hand, he says there's no real difference between him on the account and yet they're also the coming of the bush administration and obama sure in there. so i think you have a little bit of angry possible critiq

what i'm more, i am less interested in exactly what is said in the debates the next four years when whoever wins says in the week or two after the election. to me, that's the time to step up and do the broader leadership and be tougher. >> what would you like to hear president obama say, either before or after the election? talk about romney, what about obama? too if your view as mine is that we're not going to have a deal that doesn't have both revenues and spending and the biggest obstacle is on the revenue side and that, as i do believe and i have asked a lot of democratic senators if my perception is correct and they say yes, and that is, that republicans continue to believe that at the end of the day in the 11th hour democrats will relent again as they did in 2011 and at the end of 2010. frankly one of the things the president has to do is to make it crystal clear that he is damn serious and he is not going to accept a deal that doesn't have both revenues and spending. let's just lay that out there. and i think that when that becomes accepted, that is my fear of why we go into january.
